I just received the package that you sent me. Thank you so much. Please extend my thanks to all those who contributed to the package as well. The card and letters are great. I will share them, as well as the contents with the Soldiers that I work with. It is always very nice to see that strangers take the time to do something for the Soldiers over here. I truly appreciate you taking the time to put together this package and send it to me. I hope that you and all of your co-workers have a wonderful day. Thank you again. Respectfully, 1LT SLUBOWSKI _____________________________________________________ Please thank everyone for their support and kindness. I have distributed almost 100 packages and each one was greatly appreciated. A lot of time all we get over here is the negative press on Iraq and our mission here. Your packages help remind us that there are people who believe in us and support what we are doing here. THANK YOU for your support. COL DEYOUNG
I got another box (mainly toiletries). Thank you so much. I divided the care packages you sent between the Marines out west and the Army up north. Both units are in the hinterlands and their conditions are rustic at best. They are also in the most danger. I know that your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Thank you for all of your support. Your care packages were a huge hit and a big morale boost. COL DEYOUNG |
I have to tell you, the soccer balls were a hit here. I have enclosed a picture for you. Once I put the footballs on line at the bucca flea market (Kind of like ebay, but there is no charge) everyone came by. It read, "Free footballs, Courtesy of ya all". We are limited to pictures here. So I had to take them in the chapel. I took the snacks over to the guys in the compound. They were so appreciative of the snacks. We pass out toys and stuff to children who come to visit their parents who are detained here. So I took a football and a soccer ball out there, too. I took a picture of the little boy and my Chaplain. The little boy I gave the football to was embarrassed and wouldn't let me get a picture with it. I really can't thank you enough. SPC HILL
